5 Mindless Chores You Can Get Done While Watching Netflix

I love a great Netflix binge - seriously who doesn't? There's nothing better than settling down to a Sunday filled with a long, no-stress, C-grade series. One of the ones where every episode is guaranteed a happy ending. Where you can pick the tropes in the first scene and the plot is like a Gordian knot, and if there's a half decent romantic arc in there, all the better.

This is one of my favorite guilty pleasures (that I never actually admit to), and even though I love most things on Netflix, watching this stuff is my favorite. It's so incredibly bad that it's good. Sadly, I don't get to do this that often. So I figured if I could multitask while watching, I'd have some awesome justification for indulging a little more often. So today I have 5 mindless chores you can get done while watching Netflix. Because we all need more justification for a Netflix binge!

1. Folding and Ironing

If your house is anything like mine, it's not so much a case of Mt Washmore, but Mt Foldmore! I don't really hate folding, it's just that it's so long and boring. And as for ironing... normally we iron as-needed, but I know I would have a very, very grateful husband if all those work shirts were ironed for him. Which is the perfect justification for a little Netflix afternoon :)

2. Tax Receipts

Do you have an enormous pile of receipts to be sorted for tax time? Whether it's for business or personal, it's a slow, boring job that's perfect to do while catching up on your favorite series. Ditto for that big pile of filing that needs to be done!

3. Your Handbag

When was the last time you cleaned out your handbag? Seriously! We use and rely on them everyday, and the bigger it is the more rubbish and random items get shoved in there, never to see the light of day until months later. So settle down in front of the TV and get it sorted - you'll thank yourself for weeks to come! And if your handbag is looking good at the moment, what about that 'crap' drawer everyone has in their kitchen?

4. Mending

Most of us don't sew very much at all these days, but I bet you have half a dozen items that have a dropped hem, a seam that needs repairing or a button put back on. I have a pile, and the only reason I haven't gotten around to mending them is that I keep thinking I don't have the time to sit down and do it properly... and that justification just made itself! Oh, and remember all those other things that just need a bit of glue? That ornament that fell and broke into 3 pieces? Those picture frames that need fixing? That dolls house that needs the chimney put back on? Same deal. And a brilliant excuse to catch up on your latest series.

5. Those Toys

Kid's toys. I only have one kiddo, and it's nuts what she has - which, can I just say is waaaay less than heaps of other kids I know. And as they get older, the toys get smaller. At the moment we have a wicked combination of Shopkins, My Little Pony, Barbies, LOL Dolls and Sylvanian Families. Someone (*cough**Dan**cough*) thought it would be a brilliant idea to buy Missy the Sylvanian Families Grand Hotel. Plus all the accessories. This thing is unreal - it has soap the size of a tic-tac, rolls of spare loo paper in the bathroom cabinet, and spare hangers and clothes in the wardrobe. It's a pain in the butt keeping it nice and together. And don't even get me started on LOL Dolls... (word to the wise - do not buy them.)

Anyway, all this amounts to one enormous mess of tiny accessories and a big headache for me - especially given how expensive they all were. So every so often, I switch on the TV, upend the toy baskets on the floor and sort them all out. It's a fiddly, time consuming job made ever so much more do-able with Netflix. And I'm pretty sure I could get a full season in when I work up the will to sort out the lego...

So there we go! Some easy, mindless tasks you can do while indulging in some awesome (or awesomely bad) Netflix!
